Bunny Jackson’s – Manchester

Today, we’re spicing things up (literally) because we’re not taking you to a fancy restaurant! Nope, in their own words, “We are not a restaurant.” Bunny Jacksons is that cool spot doing something a bit different, specialising in something that, in our humble opinion, not many people get right these days – chicken wings.

And we’re not talking your run-of-the-mill chicken. Oh no, they’ve got a lineup of flavours that’ll make your taste buds dance, including something so crazy we can’t wait to spill the deets in our feedback. This is our go-to when that chicken craving hits, and we’re not in the mood to doll up or break the bank. We’re not divine all the time, you know? Sometimes, you just need that good old-fashioned, eat-with-your-hands-and-make-a-mess kind of vibe. Don’t pretend you’re not feeling it… Are you ready to wing it? 😆.

Now, after giving those pics a once-over, I bet you’ve got a few burning questions. Well, let’s see if we can tackle them right here. Quick heads up, they’re well aware this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. But if you’re a chicken wing enthusiast, a true connoisseur, you might just want to dive in for a unique experience and, you know, not give a ‘cluck’ about the other stuff. (Okay, we promise to ease up on the chicken puns… but you love it don’t you, you filthy cluckers).

VIBE – Before we dive into the nitty-gritty, let’s get the most important thing straight – THIS IS NOT A FANCY RESTAURANT. So save that best dress or shirt for another occasion. This is not a stain on Bunnys (although you might spot a few there 😅), it’s a bar. Picture a student joint, think budget-friendly, and imagine a dimly lit rocker vibe – perfect for a laid-back hangout with friends over some drinks. The seats might have a tear or two, and the walls? Well, they’re adorned with inappropriate innuendos and pictures. But hey, that’s all part of the charm. Stick with us – we’re here just for the food.

Gram-worthy – Not gonna lie, the place itself might not scream fancy, but when it comes to the food – oh boy, it hits the mark. Snap a pic of that chicken, and you might just be fooled into thinking you’re entering a high-end chicken haven. That’s why we had to throw it in block capitals that THIS IS NOT A FANCY RESTAURANT so nobody can have a go at us 😏. If you stumbled upon some of that chicken on the Gram, wouldn’t you be curious to know where it came from? We certainly would. It holds its own against the finest, in our humble opinion.

FLAVOURS – Alright, time for the pièce de résistance – the FOOD. Drumroll, please! 🥁 The chicken wings here strut in several flavours. We went for the classic (because it’s a banger), the buffalo, and a hush-hush ‘tequila’ style flavour (say tequila in a high-pitched sing-songy voice, we dare you). They also do a Jack Daniels flavour and a garlic (usually my fave). We’ve also had burgers and dirty fries previously and they are just as tasty and incredible (yeah we’re regulars now).

But hold up, we’ve got to shine a spotlight on a special appearance – that one with a jalapeño topper in our pictures. Don’t let the jalapeño fool you; that’s not the spiciest part. Bunny’s used to run a hot wing challenge back in the day before they waved the white flag – I’m guessing for obvious reasons. This little monster ignites a fiery storm after just a couple of bites, and let me tell you, we were feeling the burn for a whole 12 hours after it. 💦🌶️🥵 But here’s the kicker – it tastes absolutely incredible amid the inferno. The sauce is so flipping yummy that you’ll find yourself reaching for more, even if it means dancing with the flames. 🔥

THE FORK-OUT– Get ready for this (once your mouth cools down from the burn). You can load up on several wing portions, burgers, fries, whatever, and still keep it within the £20-30 range. In fact, the wings are even cheaper than the drinks, and that’s their unique selling point – they’re all about delivering value in the food. We all know drink prices are influenced by other factors. Bottom line, the food is consistently banging, and every penny is well spent. Quick side note, if you dare to tackle the fiery wing challenge thingy, these don’t come in portions. They’re sold individually at a bargain £1 per wing.

Crew – The vibe with the staff? Always friendly, laid-back, just doing their job – exactly what you’d expect from a spot like this. Never encountered anyone rude or annoying in all our visits. And, like any place, there’s some cracking banter with a few of them. Shout out to the lady who owned up to having sticky shoes at the end of each shift! 😆

Wrapping it up, we’re head over heels for this spot – perfect for a quick, no-nonsense bite. In a world that’s constantly changing and obsessed with all things shiny, Bunny’s throws it back to the days when you could just find a spot, chill, and not be charged an absurd amount for amazing food. We were itching to share our thoughts on this gem, so if you find yourself in the area, do check them out, and spread the word to your pals!
